The final day of the 2025 Men’s NCAA Division I Championships is in the books. The Texas Longhorns have already lifted the team trophy in Federal Way, Washington, and now it’s time to find out who has won this year’s Pick’Ems crown.
Day 4 Swimming Event Winners:
- 1650 freestyle: Zalan Sarkany, Indiana — 14:21.29
- 200 backstroke: Hubert Kos, Texas — 1:34.21 NCAA Record
- 100 freestyle: Josh Liendo, Florida — 39.99
- 200 breaststroke: Jassen Yep, Indiana — 1:48.30
- 200 butterfly: Luca Urlando, Georgia — 1:36.43 NCAA Record
- 400 freestyle relay: Tennessee (Caribe, Taylor, Blackman, Crooks) — 2:42.30 NCAA Record
There were some upsets yesterday, but in terms of this competition, there was no larger upset than the men’s 200 breaststroke. There were 622 entries for this year’s contest and none picked Indiana fifth-year Jassen Yep to win the NCAA title in that event.
This resulted in the men’s 200 breaststroke being a low-scoring event across the board. The maximum number of points available in a single event in the Pick’Em contest is 19 points. The highest number of points scored in the men’s 200 breaststroke was 10. Four people correctly picked Matt Fallon to finish second and Carles Coll Marti to get third, then earned a point from putting either Yep or Denis Petrashov in the top four but the wrong spot.
Along with the individual winners on Day Four, the last night sees the Top 10 Teams picks take effect in the overall standings. Correctly picking the winner earns 10 points, while each properly placed 2nd-10th place team earns another five points. In the women’s pick’ems, the most team picks anyone got right was 5 out of 10 and the average team points was 12.30. Nobody got all ten men’s teams correct, though nine entries correctly predicted nine out of ten. The average team points for scored in the men’s Pick’Ems was 27.23 points. 505 entries picked the Texas men to win.
The unpredictable fourth night of finals shook up the top of the Pick’Ems leaderboard. Jgswain88 earned the daily prizes for Day 4, scoring 72 points. His Day 4 results plus 30 points from the Team Score competition was nearly enough to win him the overall Pick’Ems prize.
However, after coming into the final session tied for fifth, Geo Durin has won the 2025 Men’s NCAA Championships Pick’Ems, scoring 235 points to win by two points!
This podium looks a lot like the Fukuoka men’s 100 breaststroke podium, because we’ve got three second-place finishers, including Jgswain88. They moved up from 28th overall after Day 3, totaling 233 points and tying for second with snailSpace and MLZGator. MLZGator was the highest ranked of this trio before today as they were tied for seventh. Like Jgswain88, snailSpace had a strong final day, scoring 62 points (t-10) to move onto the overall podium.
