Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Kenny Meyer, a Sandpipers of Nevada swimmer, has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the Division III New York University beginning in the fall of 2025.

I’m incredibly proud to announce my commitment to New York University! I’d like to thank the Sandpiper coaches for believing in my potential and my teammates for pushing and supporting me throughout this incredible journey. Also, big thanks to Coaches Connor and Trevor for the amazing opportunity to swim and learn at NYU. 💜GO VIOLETS!!!💜

Meyer specializes in distance freestyle, fitting right in with the Sandpipers’ strengths as a team. He swum his lifetime bests in the 200/500/1000/1650 freestyle—his primary events—at the CA/NV Speedo Winter Sectionals in December 2024. His best finish there came in the 1650 freestyle, where he placed 12th in 15:59.38, earning a Futures cut.

Meyer can swim down to the 200 freestyle—he races it at club meets and swam down to it when he competed for Centennial High School, but in general, the longer the race, the better he goes.

Best Times (SCY):

  • 1650 freestyle: 15:59.38
  • 1000 freestyle: 9:37.06 (not an official DIII Championships event)
  • 500 freestyle: 4:37.34
  • 200 freestyle: 1:44.82

The NYU men are coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2025 NCAA DIII Swimming and Diving Championships and have a strong distance freestyle group for Meyer to join. While Denison ran away with the title and Emory was ensconced in second, third through fifth-place were separated by just 22 points. Chicago placed third with 272 points, edging ahead of NYU (267.5) and Kenyon (250).

NYU returns 93.5 individual points, the second-fewest of the top five teams at this year’s championships, so the team will be hoping that returners and newcomers alike can step up to keep the team well-positioned at the top of the division.

Meyer will need to drop time in all his primary events to be a scoring threat at the DIII NCAA Championships, but he would have scored at the 2025 UAA Championships, where the NYU men finished second, sandwiched between Emory and Chicago. Meyer’s lifetime bests would have placed 11th in the 1650 freestyle and picked up points in the 500 freestyle ‘C’ final.
