2025 NSW STATE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The initial entries have been released for the 2025 New South Wales State Open Championships which begin on Friday, March 21st.

Among the list of athletes is Olympic champion and world record holder Kaylee McKeownwith the competition representing the versatile superstar’s potential first appearance since pulling out of last year’s World Aquatics Swimming World Cup.

McKeown tore up the Olympic pool in Paris, capturing a remarkable five medals including repeating as champion in both the women’s 100m and 200m backstroke events.

She then embarked on the World Cup but wound up withdrawing in the midst of the first stop in Shanghai, citing ‘putting her mental health first.’

McKeown bypassed the Short Course World Championships, Queensland Championships and additional competitions meaning these NSW Championships would be our first glimpse of the 2024 Swammy Award winner for Oceanian Female of the Year with the World Trials on the horizon.

Although not the final entries, McKeown is set to race the 100m free, 50m/100m/200m back and the 200m IM next week.
