Princeton, Yale Both Under Ivy League Record in 800 Free Relay with NCAA “A” Cuts

Princeton and Yale both crushed the Ivy League meet record of 6:15.38, breaking their respective program records and achieving NCAA “A” cuts in the process.

The two squads took down a Farris-era Harvard mark by 1.63 and 1.40 seconds, respectively.

Princeton sophomore Arthur Balva (1:34.77), junior Mitchell Schott (1:31.81), sophomore NoahSech (1:34.85), and freshman Patrick Dinu (1:32.32) combined for 6:13.75 to secure the Tigers’ victory.

First out of the blocks was Cornell, whose Pietro Ubertalli led off with 1:33.01. Brown was in second place with Marton Nagy (1:33.56), while Yale’s Jake Wang (1:33.82) was third. Princeton was in fifth behind Columbia (Adam Wu, 1:34.57).

Princeton’s second leg, Mitchell Schott, passed the top four teams with his 1:31.81 and handed off to Noah Sech with the Tigers in the lead.

Cornell dropped to #2 and Brown was #3 at the halfway point. Yale was fourth, followed by Columbia and Harvard in sixth.

Princeton held the lead on leg 3, while Yale moved up to second, Cornell was third, and Brown was fourth. Harvard swapped with Columbia at fifth.

Yale outsplit everyone on the anchor with Millard’s 1:30.44, but Princeton freshman Dinu held on for the Tiger win. Yale placed second, Cornell, third, and Harvard moved up to fourth ahead of Brown.
