2021 FINA SHORT COURSE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

After 5 days of competition at the 2021 Short Course World Championships, the United States leads the medal table for swimming with a total of 23 medals (6 gold, 6 silver, 11 bronze). Although no Americans won individual events on day 5, the country received a boost via a first place tie with the Russian Swimming Federation in the mixed 4×50 medley relay.

Canada also had a strong day to comfortably climb into second place. The nation saw its women dominate the pool events, winning every final in which they had a women’s swimmer present, including Maggie MacNeil’s world record breaking performance in the 50 backstroke. The Canadian women also earned a silver medal in that event from Kylie Masse and a gold in the 4×200 freestyle relay.

Several countries earned their first medals at these championships including France, Trinidad and Tobago, Norway, Germany, and Great Britain.
