Dec. 5, 2012: Nation&os;s Capital head coach Bruce Gemmell joins today&os;s edition of The Morning Swim Show two months after joining the D.C.-area swim team, home to Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky. Gemmell talks about the two weeks in which he first learned of the job opportunity and then became one of the team's head coaches. He has had a close association with the team over the years, since he coached the nearby Delaware Swim Team. Gemmell's road to coaching went through Jon Urbanchek, who initially persuaded him to become an engineer instead of a coach. Twenty years later, he has watched his son, Andrew, earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic team, and is working daily with Ledecky.
