British open water star and Olympic medalist Keri-Anne Payne has chosen Warrender Baths as her new training ground headed toward the 2016 Olympics, according to her official website.

Payne has been in search of new training after moving with her husband, the recently retired David Carry, to his native Edinburgh so that he could pursue a career with a talent management group. Payne gave tests to both Warrender Baths and the University of Edinburgh, both fabulous clubs, but settled on the former of those teams.

“After an extended break from training, I’m really looking forward to getting back in the pool and starting a new chapter of my swimming career with a fresh start.”

Warrender has trained, among others, British Champion Craig Benson and breakout Florida sophomore Dan Wallace. The coaches there are Laurel Bailey, an Aussie, and Kris Gilchrist, a former World Champion breaststroker who retired this summer.

Payne sook silver in Beijing in 2008 in the inaugural 10km open water swim and then, after winning consecutive World Championships in 2009 and 2011 in the same race, just missed medaling with a fourth-place finish in London. She was just four seconds behind winner Eva Risztov.
