Irish Short Course National Swimming Championships – No One Can Touch McMahon!

Through two days of competition at the Irish Short Course National Swimming Championships it is no surprise that Sycerika McMahon is dominating her competition. McMahon had the meet of her life at the European Short Course Championships where she took away the bronze in the 50 breaststroke and broke a total of nine Irish records.

On the first day of the Irish Championships she won the 200 IM breaking the Irish National record finishing in a time of 2:12.35. She also came away with wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.30), 200 butterfly (2:13.71), 100 freestyle (56.07) and 800 freestyle (8:50.86).

McMahon was not the only swimmer to set new standards for swimming in Ireland. On day one Brendan Gibbons broke the Junior National record in the 400 freestyle in a time of 3:54.21 and on day two he proceeded to break the Junior National mark in the 1500 freestyle in a time of 15:26.03.

Brendan Hyland set a new Junior and Senior National record in the 200 butterfly finishing in a time of 1:59.17. Brian O'Sullivan broke the Junior National record in the 50 backstroke posting a time of 25.97 and Cian Duffy broke the Junior National record in the 200 IM touching in a time of 2:03.46.
