The Florida State Seminoles have added three more very good recruits to their class of 2013, with in-stater Jason McCormick; out-of-stater Caroline Neil; and out of country-er Charlotte Philpotts.

McCormick continues a trend for the Seminole men of recruiting very well in their home state, joining breaststroker Jason Coombs in this class. McCormick will need some work to fill out his versatility, but with a 20.82 in the 50 free and a 45.96 in the 100, he's clearly got the speed and athleticism to do so.

McCormick swims for FLA Aquatics and Boca Raton High School. We've talked about it a lot early this season, but the Seminoles' primary training specialty is really sprint freestylers, so a swimmer like McCormick should be set up well to succeed in Tallahassee. He swims for the same club as an earlier recruit this year on the women's side: Chelsie Britt. Britt is a phenomenal backstroker with bests of 54.88 and 2:00.98 in yards, as well as a 2:01 in the 200 IM.

Philpotts is a breaststroker and IM'er. Her best long course 100 breaststroke is 1:12.47, and 2:38.64 in the 200.

The Florida State women have a big need in their breaststroking group, especially after the (unexplained) loss of Melissa Cooper who was the runner-up at ACC's last year in the 100 but is not on the Seminoles' roster this year. They have, however, shown the ability to develop these swimmers, so between Philpotts and freshman Samantha Pochowski, the talent exists to rebuild.

Philpotts has also been a 2:16.99 in the short course meters 200 IM. She has spent some time working on her freestyle the last year, it seems, so many of her best breaststroke times are from previous seasons.

Neil is another breaststroker with ACC scoring potential as a freshman. She has been a 1:03.87 in the 100 breast and a 2:18.96 in the 200, both during her junior season. She swims for Star Aquatics in North Carolina.

The squad has also added Katy Stringfield from the Smoky Mountain Aquatic Club; she is a 1:50.4 200 freestyler and a 4:55.5 500 freestyler.
