San Clemente, California’s Katie Faris has committed to swim for Boise State University beginning in the 2020-21 school year. Her club team said, “San Clemente Aquatics is proud to congratulate Katie Faris on her commitment to continue her academic and athletic career at Boise State University!” Faris is a senior at San Clemente High School who finaled in both the 50 free and 100 free at CIF-Southern Section Division 1 Championships in May, finishing 14th and 17th, respectively with 24.39 and 53.31. In club swimming, she recently went best times in the 200 free, 200 back, and 100 fly. She made finals in the 50 free and 100 free at CA/NV Sectionals. This summer, she earned lifetime bests in the LCM 50/100/200 free, 100 back, 100 fly, and 200 IM.
Faris will join Jessica Davis, Maxine Catig, and Samantha Nickell in the class of 2024. Her best SCY times are close to scoring range for the Mountain West Conference. It took 23.42/51.37/1:52.44 to score in the 50/100/200 free at the 2019 MWC Championships.
