Anthony Ervin, Olympic Champion and rock ‘n roll swimmer, has made headlines for his Indiegogo Fundraiser for the 2012 FINA/Arena World Cup Series, and captured an American Record in the short course meters 50 freestyle along the way.
If you're just learning about Ervin's Indiegogo fundraiser, he needed a way to raise funds for his extensive travel expenses. If you consider the round-the-world series — Dubai, Doha, Stockholm, Moscow, Berlin, Beijing, Tokyo, and Singapore — then you understand the cost of flights, hotel and food is high. (USA Swimming does not cover these expenses because the World Cup is an international series governed by FINA.)
SwimSwam participated by donating $250 for an Anthony Ervin written SwimSwam-theme song. VIDEO ABOVE. (Many thanks, Anthony!)
Presently Ervin has raised $12,277, exceeding his $10,000 goal, but there is a BIG reason to continue to donate. Anthony will give 50% of the funds over 10k to Mamade, whose “Water to the Thirsty” project is providing clean water to those in the world who need it most. Anthony has only 5 days left on his Indiegogo campaign.
