Pennsylvania YMCA Swimming is looking at different ways to expand greater diversity and opportunity for swimmers. They are looking at several options including new events, qualifying areas, number of heats, etc.
Below is one idea that is being tossed around where there would be three districts instead of two (East and West). The map shows the potential new district with the West in the striped area, the East in the yellow area, and the Central District comprised of all the other counties.

The state will be divided into 3 Districts, as follows:
· West District: The counties west of and including Bedford, Blair, Clearfield,Cameron, and McKean, as well as Jamestown, NY
· East District: The counties of Chester, Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery,Bucks, and Berks
· Central District: All other counties
Next blog posting will explore how swimmers advance from Districts to States under this new format.
